Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have a full-time job but I am passionate about graphic design, film editing, and playing music at parties. So, on the side, I attract clients for graphic designing and video editing jobs. Sometimes, if it fits into my schedule, I DJ at parties.
Let's get to the applications!
Canva
This application is a must-have, even if you want to earn less. It's a graphic design tool that can assist you in your daily life by enabling you to create flyers, custom business cards, signs, posters, infographics, and more. You don't need any graphic design experience to use it; you only need patience and practice. With time, you can create digital products that are good enough to sell. My recent client was a small family business owner. I made custom business cards, business flyers, and other digital products for him to market himself and expand his business. Canva is free, but you can buy a subscription to access more features.
Wondershare Filmora
Many YouTubers and aspiring filmmakers use Filmora video editor to create content. It offers a free version for beginners to practice, and if you need more features, you can get a subscription at affordable prices. Filmora encourages you to produce videos and upload them to your YouTube channel. As your channel grows, you'll be monetized, and it won't stop there. You can also make videos for others and earn money on the side. This is a quicker way to make money. I make videos for small businesses, upcoming YouTubers, and online course educators and get paid for it. During COVID-19, I helped college professors create tutorial videos for their online classes and assisted new YouTubers with their content.
VirtualDJ
The VirtualDJ app is an excellent application used by DJs. You don't need to be the best DJ in your city, but you can indeed become good enough to attract clients who will pay you anywhere from $300 to $800 per night to play music for them. We all enjoy listening to music, and with VirtualDJ, you can build upon your favorite tunes by researching famous music from different eras and practicing to create the ultimate playlist that will set the dance floor on fire. VirtualDJ offers a free version that you can download and use for practice.
In my early 20s, when a friend offered me the job of assistant DJ at a prom, I took it and practiced with him. It took a few days of practice to get my foot in the door and do my first show. We got paid a substantial amount of money for playing 4 hours. If you make a playlist of good songs and sell yourself as a DJ to folks organizing parties, you can get paid for it.
The majority of my work includes using Canva and Flimora to make videos. I create graphics from Canva, get unedited footage from my clients, and put it all together in Flimora to produce a polished video. I charge by the hour and make my clients digitally sign an agreement that details what I will do for them, the maximum hours it may take me to do the job, a timeframe of when I will give them the final product, and how much they will pay me by the hour. You can make an agreement form in Word or download a template from the web and edit it. Practice, market yourself, and make some money.
